Lisa Congdon Questions

1. Congdon embarked on this project because she loves to not only collect things, but also display, organise and arrange things. She also wanted to document all of her collections.

2. Yes I do see her as a typical collector, as all of her items are vintage or retro, and I think most collectors like to collect things that look aged or retro.

3. Profiles:

Day 309: pegs

Name: Betty
Where do they live: England
Occupation: Shopkeeper
Age: 63
Interest in the items: How they help her do the washing
Love or obsessions: She has an obsession with the pegs and has to make sure that every single peg is accounted for while doing the washing, and that they are stored in the right place
Negative/ Positive: This has had a positive effect on her life, as she always has the right number of pegs and can find them extremely quickly.
Why: She doesn’t know why she collects them, it’s just a habit
Control or compulsive: This is a compulsive collector, as she can’t help but keep track and care for all of her pegs.

Day 357: cookie cutters
Name: Sophie
Where do they live: Australia
Occupation: Child
Age: 8
Interest in the items: Sophie loves to make cookies of all different shapes using these cookie cutters.
Love or obsessions: She does not have an obsession, but simply loves to make cookies of fun shapes and loves to bake.
Negative/ Positive: It is a positive collection.
Why: She always asks her mum to buy a new shape whenever she sees one in a shop.
Control or compulsive: This is a controlled collection, as she only buys them when she sees them in a shop and loves to use every single one of the cutters, so they are not just placed into a jar and left there.
