Influencing Photographer- Michael Kenna

- Was born in Lancashire, England in 1953
- Currently based in Seattle, USA
- Attended London College of printing in London, England from 1973-76
- Attended Banbury School of Art, England from 1972-73
- Attended St Josephs College, England 1964-72
- Michael Kenna takes many black and white photos which don't have much contrast in them
- Shoots a lot of long exposures in black and white, especially on water but also some night long exposures of stars
- Takes many photos of trees and nature in general
- Most of his photos are taken at night
- I have planned to shoot all of my photos in black and white
- His images are very simple, and my photos are going to be very simple, with the meaning of the photo very blatant and obvious.
- This photo is a style I am influenced by as I really enjoy shooting long exposures

Michael Kenna, "Two Boardwalks", 2013, Dunalley, Tasmania, Australia

- I really like this image as I like long exposures, because I enjoy the simplicity and calmness of the image. I also like the dramatic sky in this image.
